JET edition by Russell Blake Literature Fiction eBooks
I feel like I've found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with this author. Being a newbie to the Russell Blake world of writing, Jet was a tremendous way to start reading not only the beginning of what will be a Jet series but a beginning to reading his entire collection of books. In Jet, Russell Blake doesn't ease you into the beginning with this book, he starts you off running and you don't stop until the end. I'm not an arms master - couldn't tell you the difference between a Saturday Night Special and a Glock but Russell Blake broke open a world where fire power, spy apparatus, and kill or be-killed moves are an every day occurrence, and delivered it in such a way that I was both fascinated and wide-eyed with the knowledge I gained. Don't forget to dust your passport off because the plot carries you from country to country. From Monaco to Punta Gorda, you get to see both picturesque waterfronts and the sights, sounds and smells of third world countries. Russell Blake plunks you right smack dab in the middle of it all.
Blake has made Jet a woman you don't want to mess around with but not to the point where other women would feel threatened by her. She has feelings and depth. This is a woman I would want on my side and her cell phone number to call if I ever needed some intimidation. As far as the plot, the twists are artfully conveyed where you don't know what to expect next. Want to take a quiet walk down the street? Rethink that when you hear the telltale whistle of bullets slicing through the air towards you.
Thankfully, at the end of Jet, Russell Blake has given a sneak-peek of Chapter One from what will be the second in this series. This author doesn't know how to let up on the action....and I'm so glad. Well done, Mr. Blake. It is my pleasure to highly recommend this book to lovers of all genres.

JET edition by Russell Blake Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Thriller author Russell Blake has launched a new series with Jet (Jet #1) and it's an easy 5 stars rating from me. It features a female heroine, but rest assured that she's no shrinking violet. She's a leading lady in the tradition of Angelina Jolie's greatest action movies. Maya, code name Jet, is a former Mossad operative who left her field via a fake death in a car explosion for a peaceful retirement on the island of Trinidad.
Maya is alone, closing up her Internet Café, when an assassin attempts to garrote her from behind. She swiftly takes down an entire hit team and makes use of on-going Carnival festivities to cover her escape. There are drunken revelers and seedy bars as well as a boat chase equal to any Bond film. Maya is now forced to renew her intelligence ties in order to discover how she had been located, who is pursuing her, and then take care of this threat, once and for all.
It's non-stop action as only Blake can deliver. He displays a sensitive side, however, along with deeper character development, which is not seen in his novels featuring male protagonists. Frankly, it's my favorite of all of his thrillers, in much the same way that I prefer Stuart Woods' Orchid Beach series to his Stone Barrington novels. Sometimes, when an author writes as another gender, it frees their imagination and creativity. This is Blake's best thriller. I can't wait to read the sequel!
It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Russell Blake's novels. He has consistently delivered heart-pounding thrillers, set in exotic locations, each one embedded with a unique twist that has become his signature hallmark. I was skeptical when I first heard the premise for what I thought would be "yet another" super-agent female SALT character. JET shattered my skepticism within the first ten pages. We're introduced to Maya in a tropical paradise, where she has obviously adopted a less lethal, more relaxed lifestyle. Quite suddenly, her world is turned upside down by a savage attack, which she barely escapes. And this is what hooked me immediately. Maya (aka JET) didn't do backflips off walls or shoot her assailants through the eye at 100 yds with her pistol. She put all of her "rusty" skills to work in a desperate pitch to survive, and she just barely pulled it off. Russell Blake expertly merged realism with nail biting action, resisting the temptation to unleash JET too soon. However, as JET warms up, and regains her stride...there is no stopping this ex-Mossad agent. She kicks ass and buries her enemies on an epic scale across multiple continents, culminating in one of the best action sequences I've read in years. The final scene combined the Monte Carlo-esque opulence and glamour from James Bond's Casino Royale with the hard hitting "black ops" tradecraft of The Bourne Identity...all in one unforgettable ending.
And there is a twist. When I read Blake, I'm always looking for the twist. I didn't see this one coming at all. It changes everything for JET.
JET lays the foundation for an entertaining, thrill-a-minute, gritty Covert Ops series, staring the baddest female protagonist ever.
